Receive a large mystery Sarracenia with at least two tubes. A great value for a retail item or a practice plant if you’re unsure of your Sarracenia care abilities. Available in 3.5″ pots.
Care Instructions
This Sarracenia requires full bright direct sun. We don’t recommend keeping these plants indoors as they want all of the sun you can give them.
Use only rainwater, distilled water, water from a Reverse Osmosis System, or water with TDS (total dissolved solids) of 50 or less. You can buy a TDS tester in the Supplies section of our website. You never want a Sarracenia plant to dry out, so we recommend that you keep the plant in a bowl or tray of water.
Does well in a mix of organic peat moss (75%) to perlite (25%). Don’t use potting soil or commercially grown peat moss which may contain fertilizers. Click here to view our available soil mixes on our website.
Sarracenia are found up and down the East coast from Canada down over to the Gulf coast. As long as the plant is sitting in water with lots of light, it will be happy. If you live in a cold area, you must protect the rhizome from the excessive cold during the winter by planting it in a peat bog or placing it in a garage or shed window.
Sarracenia naturally go through dormancy during the winter this plant will require a period of dormancy to continue growing larger each year. Keep your plant somewhere just above freezing, such as a greenhouse, garage, or basement. Make sure it’s getting as much natural sunlight as possible and keep the plant pot in a bowl or tray of water.
