This Flytrap has short sawtooth teeth and green traps. Available in 3″ pots.
This Venus Fly Trap does best in full direct sunlight as the sun is its main source of food. The more sun it receives, the redder the trap will appear, which is a good thing. We don’t recommend keeping these plants indoors as they want all of the sun you can give them.
Use only rainwater, distilled water, water from a Reverse Osmosis System, or water with TDS (total dissolved solids) of 50 or less. You can buy a TDS tester in the Supplies section of our website. You never want a Venus Fly Trap to dry out, so we recommend that you keep the plant in a bowl or tray of water.
Does well in a mix of organic peat moss (75%) to perlite (25%) or an equal mix of organic peat moss and sand. Don’t use potting soil or commercially grown peat moss which may contain fertilizers. Click here to view our available soil mixes on our website.
The Venus Fly Trap originates from North Carolina where daytime temperatures can easily reach 90 degrees in the summer and a low of 30 degrees in the winter. Don’t let your Venus Fly Trap freeze outside in the winter.
Dormancy is natural for a Venus Fly Trap. Your plant will look sad and mostly dead during the winter dormancy period. Keep your plant somewhere just above freezing, such as a garage or a basement. Make sure it’s getting as much natural sunlight as possible and keep the plant in a bowl or tray of water.
