Known as the Threadleaf Sundew, Drosera Filiformis unfurls pink sticky arms and does well in bright direct light and wet conditions. It can handle drying out for short periods of time. Available in 3.5″ pots.
This Sundew can be grown outdoors in full sun or in a bright sunny window indoors with direct sunlight. They can also do well in very bright terrariums or grow cabinets with bright direct light.
Use only rainwater, distilled water, water from a Reverse Osmosis System, or water with TDS (total dissolved solids) of 50 or less. You can buy a TDS tester in the Supplies section of our website. You never want a Sundew to dry out, so we recommend that you keep the plant in a bowl or tray of water.
Does well in a mix of organic peat moss (75%) to perlite (25%) or an equal mix of organic peat moss and sand. Don’t use potting soil or commercially grown peat moss which may contain fertilizers.
This Sundew does best in temperatures above freezing and can tolerate hot temperatures as long as it remains in a wet environment.
During the colder winter months, be sure that it’s not exposed to temperatures below freezing for an extended period of time unless it’s planted in a bog in the ground. It needs as much natural sunlight as possible. Keep the plant in a bowl or tray of water at this time.
