A collection of carnivorous plants in a 5″ bog planter. Each bog includes small carnivorous plants such as Sarracenia, Venus flytraps, and Sundews. Most bogs will include additional small plants and seedlings.
Care Instructions
This bog requires full bright direct sun. We don’t recommend keeping these plants indoors as they want all of the sun you can give them.
Use only rainwater, distilled water, water from a Reverse Osmosis System, or water with TDS (total dissolved solids) of 50 or less. You can buy a TDS tester in the Supplies section of our website. You never want these plants to dry out, so we recommend that you keep the plants in a bowl or tray of water.
Does well in a mix of organic peat moss (75%) to perlite (25%). Don’t use potting soil or commercially grown peat moss which may contain fertilizers. Click here to view our available soil mixes on our website.
These plants are found up and down the East coast where summer temperatures can exceed 90 degrees and winter temperatures don’t stay below freezing for long. As long as the plants are sitting in water, it won’t be impacted by heat. You must protect the plants from the excessive cold during the winter by planting it in a peat bog or placing it in a garage or shed window.
These plants naturally go through dormancy during the winter and will require a period of dormancy to continue growing larger each year. Keep your plants somewhere just above freezing, such as a greenhouse, garage, or basement. Make sure they’re getting as much natural sunlight as possible and keep the pot in a bowl or tray of water.
