Check out the little baby Drosera capensis (Cape Sundew) in a jar! One of the most popular Sundews and known for its distinctive long pink and sticky arms. A great beginner Sundew that can be grown outdoors or in a bright sunny window. The flowers may self-pollinate and drop seeds, so look for new growth on the moss. Comes in a baby jar with a lid. Remove the lid to allow air to enter the jar and reduce the chance of mold growing.

This Sundew can be grown in a bright sunny window indoors until it gets too big for the jar. When that happens, carefully remove the Sundew and place it in a larger pot with wet sphagnum moss or a mix or peat and perlite with a bowl of water underneath so that it never dries out.
Use only rainwater, distilled water, water from a Reverse Osmosis System, or water with TDS (total dissolved solids) of 50 or less. Keep the moss wet, but don’t fill it with water above the top layer of moss.
Does well in sphagnum miss, a mix of organic peat moss (75%) to perlite (25%), or an equal mix of organic peat moss and sand. Don’t use potting soil or commercially grown peat moss which may contain fertilizers. Click here to view our available soil mixes on our website.
This Sundew does best in temperatures above freezing and can tolerate warmer temperatures as long as it remains in a wet environment.
This tropical Sundew can grow year-round. Dormancy isn’t required for this Sundew. During the colder winter months, be sure that it’s not exposed to temperatures below freezing for an extended period of time.
